Behind the Scenes at Hot Glass Alley

Curiosity and creativity often come together during outings for residents of Kempton of Rock Hill. “We love learning, exploring and experiencing art together,” says Becky Sandefur, Life Enrichment Director, who plans a variety of engaging excursions each month, from restaurants and parks to cultural attractions and performances.

Before a recent visit to Charlotte’s Hot Glass Alley, residents were immersed in the world of renowned glass artist Dale Chihuly through documentaries and educational discussions. Armed with new knowledge, they set out to experience the art form firsthand.

During a behind the scenes tour, residents watched skilled artisans transform molten glass into colorful works of art, gaining insight into the techniques, craftsmanship, and creativity behind each piece. Residents enjoyed learning, discovering, and sharing the experience together.
