Celebrating Mason: A Light in Our Community

One of our memory care apartments now carries a name that means far more than a floor plan.
It honors Mason, a student in WinthropLIFE at Winthrop University, an inclusive program
preparing students with intellectual disabilities for meaningful employment and independence.

Mason interns at Kempton of Rock Hill twice a week, supporting the activities department and bringing steady joy with him each visit. When the team was designing memory care apartments they were inspired by a name that was already part of the community.

They invited Mason to review the layouts and asked which one he liked best and named it the Mason. His face lit up, grinning from ear to ear.

Residents adore him. He is an important part of the Kempton family. His humility, kindness, and constant smile reflect the heart of our memory care itself, making this naming a natural and deeply meaningful honor.
