Eve of the Derby Party

Our fun celebration of the eve of the Derby Eve party was so enjoyable, and it predicted the photo finish, which took place in Kentucky on Saturday! Our Derby was a complete photo finish that ended in a tie! The lovely Jockey Missy Curry won by correctly answering the tie breaking question. Missy rode Dream Believer, owned by Deb Thomas, Director of Memory Care. Raymond Franklin delighted us with his smooth sounds while we enjoyed mint juleps created by bartender and ‘medicine man’ (Director of Care/RN) Nick Allen. Chef Grace Powell and her team out did themselves once again with delectable Derby delights that danced on our pallets! Amy Welliver (Business Office Manager) was helping take care of business by serving others and assisting with the delicious eats. Bailey Boulware (Director of Life Enrichment) and Deb Thomas (Director of Memory Care) ensured all were laughing, smiling and having a blast. Jenae Smith (Director of Sales) worked with the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission so that she could oversee the race, which included two Kentucky native jockeys! Keith Smith (Director of Maintenance) maintained security among the rascals in attendance and did some heavy lifting with set up and break down of our event. Jeannie Jenkins (Director of Sales) shared her beauty wearing red and black and was an excellent hostess among the lovely attendants. (We did miss Leanne Pressley, our Executive Director, who is at home caring for her injured jockey, Colin.) This dedicated eve of the Derby Eve Celebration Committee worked hard and pulled off a successful event, once again! Thank you to our lovely guests who joined us in the Run for the Roses!
